Asleep to an Album - Cities

In an effort to re-engage myself with the vastness of my music library, I am going to start listening to one album a night, progressing each night down the alphabet. I will post a little information about the album along with my favourite track.

Tonight, "C" steps up to the plate and Anberlin's Cities is my album of choice. The Unwinding Cable Car is the song that is hitting home for me tonight.

I first heard of Anberlin in 2007 when I was wrapping up my first year of post-secondary at the University of Alberta. 

Emily, a floormate in my dorm, asked if I wanted to go see Anberlin live as they made a tour stop in Edmonton. At the time, I had no idea who Anberlin was. Regrettably, I said no. Hindsight is 20/20, I guess.

That summer I found myself in a used record store back at home in Calgary. While perusing through a variety of discs, I stumbled across Anberlin's Never Take Friendship Personal. Remembering Emily's recommendation to listen to Anberlin, I purchased the album with no idea of what to expect. 

After listening through Never Take Friendship Personal, I did my best to quickly track down Anberlin's more recent album, Cities. Needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed.

Cities debuted at #19 on the Billboard 200 and would produce the two singles, Godspeed (2006) and The Unwinding Cable Car (2007).
